Egypt's ancient King Khufu's boat was stirred from the Pyramid of the metropolis to a brand new home.
The King Khufu boat, the oldest and largest wood boat discovered in Egypt, has been fastidiously transported from its ancient home to a depository close to the Pyramid of the metropolis
The 4,600-year-old ship, called the Solar Boat B, was moved to a nearby museum to be inaugurated later this year.
"The purpose of the transportation project is to protect and preserve the oldest and most ancient medicinal plant in human history for future generations," the Department of Tourism and Antiquities said in a statement.
It took 48 hours to transport the cedar, a 42-meter (138-meter) wooden boat weighing 20 tons, to its new home. He arrived at GEM in the early hours of Saturday morning, the department said.
The boat was considered a single piece inside a metal cage carrying a remote control vehicle imported mainly for the project, said Atef Moftah, general manager of the GEM project.
The ship, discovered in 1954 in the southern corner of the Great Pyramid, is on display at the Museum of Giza Plateau for decades.
Egypt claims that the magnificent Egyptian Museum built over 17 years will open with more than 100,000 objects.
